My Bay Village Projects

One of my favorite things about working for the City of Bay Village was seeing projects that had been planned for a long time, sometimes years, finally come to life. Here are some of my favorites.

The Interurban Pedestrian Bridge

My application to NOACA for funding for the Interurban Pedestrian Bridge was my first big grant pitch. The city was awarded nearly $700,000 for the bridge.

A short four years later, the bridge went into place. On installation day, I climbed to the top of a large pile of excavated earth to get the best view.

The bridge crosses Cahoon Creek in the middle of Cahoon Park, between Lake Road and Wolf Road. We can now cross the park while staying in the park.

Bay Village got a new logo in 2020 that was gradually rolled out across many uses. I created a Brand & Style Guide in 2021, and did a lot of logo modifications myself for different uses.

I designed two layouts for "wraps" for the school crossing guard booths, and held an online survey to see which version residents preferred. Both got nice comments, but the navy version was the winner. It's now on all of the crossing guard booths, giving them a much-needed facelift.

Rose Hill

As much as I enjoy "new" projects, it's just as rewarding to protect existing and especially historic sites. The State of Ohio awarded Bay Village state capital funding to help with the Rose Hill stabilization project.

Also, if you haven't been to the Rose Hill Museum and Cahoon Homestead, you really should go. The collection is impressive and expertly displayed. It's open April to December on Sunday afternoons, 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
