About Kathryn

Get to Know Kathryn
Kathryn Kerber has been a proud resident of Bay Village since 2009, and was born and raised in Northeast Ohio. Her community engagement began as a chaperone for the Bay High School marching band from 2013 through 2017 while her son was on the drumline.
Her tenure with the City of Bay Village began in January 2018 as Administrative Project Leader and Assistant to the Law Director with a prompt promotion to Project Manager. Kathryn established the city’s grants program, represented the Mayor’s Office at regional meetings, managed the creation of the Cahoon Park Lakefront Master Plan, implemented the city’s new website, and served as the point of contact for residents seeking information regarding the city’s electric and natural gas aggregation programs.
Kathryn now serves as the Director of Planning and Community Development for the City of Rocky River. She oversees Land Use Commissions, represents the city in the Rocky River Chamber of Commerce, and leads strategic projects, including a master plan for Rocky River Park. She’s excited to put her skills back to work for her home city of Bay Village.
A Vision for Bay Village
Protect our Tree Canopy
Continue to invest in the Bay Village tree canopy on public and private land. Strengthen and expand city ordinances to protect trees and promote tree planting.
Preserve Neighborhood Character
New homes, rebuilds, and additions should require approval by the Architectural Board of Review to ensure they reflect Bay Village charm and fit the neighborhood.
Improve Communication with Residents
Bay Village deserves a mayor who will actively connect with residents, listen to concerns, and encourage engagement through multiple communication channels, including social media.
Protect Public Safety
The city Safety Director should have specialized skills for the job, and the role should not fall under the Mayor’s responsibilities. In an emergency, this allows the Mayor to focus on resident communication while the Safety Director manages response efforts.
